Early Childhood

The Challenges faced today by parents and children are greater than ever before. Childhood itself is increasingly under pressure from the stresses of modern society.

In a Waldorf Early Childhood programme, what to learn, when to learn and how to learn are met through a careful study of children as well as a comprehensive understanding of the human being through all stages of development.

Waldorf Early Childhood Programme

a homelike environment for ages 3.5 to 6 years
troll02 (78K)
  • A warm home-like environment, giving a gentle and secure introduction to the world of education with internationally trained Waldorf specialists.
  • Foundations for later academic achievement are laid through practical activities like painting, modeling, baking, drawing and building.
  • Songs, plays and stories strengthen the imagination, forming the basis of future literacy.
  • Children learn personal responsibility and to work in cooperation with others, as well as to appreciate the beauty of the world around them.

Admission to the Early childhood programme is based on a child's readiness for the programme and their parents' commitment to the Waldorf Early Childhood philosophy; no deliberate early stimulation of a child's intellectual faculties; limiting your child's exposure to T.V. and other electronic media, a willingness to participate in the life of the school, and a preference for a non-commercial environment for your child. The programme is operated under the auspices of the Waldorf Steiner Education Association (Singapore), a non-profit society whose aim is to promote and develop this form of education in Singapore. Life Membership of the Association is compulsory for families wishing their child to attend the Early Childhood Programme.
